Listener guidelines
How calls with listeners work on Dilkhol, for callers and for listeners.
If you're calling
- Listeners are everyday people chosen for how well they listen, not therapists or crisis counsellors. They listen; they don't give advice or diagnose.
- Calls are voice only and never recorded. Neither of you sees the other's number.
- Please don't ask for a listener's number, social media or to meet up. Keep it to the call.
- Be kind. Abusive or sexual talk ends the call, and repeated reports stop calls on your account.
- Answer "Who's calling?" truthfully. It decides which listeners you see.
- If you're thinking of harming yourself, please call Tele-MANAS 14416 now. It's free and open all day and night.
- If you'd like more than a chat, our therapists can help.
What every listener agrees to
- Listen, don't fix. Let the caller lead.
- Never diagnose, never talk about medicines, and never tell someone what to do with their life.
- Never share or ask for phone numbers, social media, or to meet up.
- If someone talks about harming themselves, press Safety and give them Tele-MANAS 14416.
- If a caller who said she's a woman isn't one, press Caller isn't a woman. You don't need a reason.
- End and report any call that turns abusive.
- Keep everything you hear private.
